Whether you’re looking to relax in nature or embark on outdoor adventures, Leavenworth KOA provides a comprehensive range of amenities to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable stay.
This campground is huge with a ton of amenities. The staff was friendly and the service was impeccable. For a KOA, I was impressed.
Access
Accessing the Leavenworth KOA is straightforward, and the campground is well-connected by road. The Leavenworth KOA is located at 11401 River Bend Drive, Leavenworth, Washington. If you’re driving from Seattle, take Interstate 90 East and merge onto U.S. Highway 97 North. Continue on U.S. Highway 2 East towards Leavenworth. Just before reaching the town of Leavenworth, you’ll turn onto River Bend Drive, where the KOA campground is situated along the Wenatchee River.
Atmosphere
Since this is a KOA, and a very large KOA, you can expect noise, a lot of traffic, and events to be taking place daily. KOA’s tend to be geared towards families so there are a lot of children playing and having a good time. If you are looking for peace and tranquility, this park is probably not for you. However, if you re looking for location close in proximity to the Bavarian town of Leavenworth, this campground may warrant a look from you.
Environment
As stated above this park has a pretty high noise level during the day and into the night. There are lots of activities that take place all day and night. The pool was crowded. There is a path that leads down to the river where people can tube. Since it was extremely hot when we were there, any water feature was being utilized.
The RV sites in this park are on asphalt. Some may have been on gravel. Like any traditional KOA there are cabins, tent camping, and RV sites. The sites are open to each other with no privacy screening. The sites were small with an asphalt pad, a small patch of grass, and a picnic table. If you have ever stayed at a KOA, I would say this gave off the same kind of feel on a larger scale.
Surrounding Area
The Leavenworth KOA is nestled in a picturesque area surrounded by the natural beauty of the Cascade Mountains in central Washington. The campground is located along the banks of the Wenatchee River, offering a serene and scenic setting with easy access to outdoor recreation. The surrounding area is characterized by lush forests, rolling hills, and the majestic peaks of the Cascades, making it a paradise for nature lovers.
Just a short drive away is the charming town of Leavenworth, renowned for its Bavarian-style architecture and vibrant cultural scene. The town is filled with shops, restaurants, and breweries that reflect its unique German-inspired heritage. Throughout the year, Leavenworth hosts various festivals and events, including Oktoberfest, the Christmas Lighting Festival, and the Autumn Leaf Festival, which draw visitors from all over.

The area around Leavenworth KOA is also a gateway to outdoor adventures. Visitors can enjoy hiking, mountain biking, and wildlife viewing in nearby Icicle Ridge and the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. The Wenatchee River offers opportunities for fishing, kayaking, and rafting. In the winter, the surrounding mountains transform into a playground for snow sports, with several ski resorts and snowshoeing trails nearby. The combination of stunning natural landscapes, outdoor activities, and the unique charm of Leavenworth makes the area around the KOA a destination worth exploring year-round.
Favorite Things…
My favorite thing was the Bavarian town. We perused the shops and ate lunch at Ludwig’s. Our waiter Will was so helpful. He kept us hydrated on a very hot day and gave us suggestions of what to eat off the menu. We also stopped by the Gingerbread Factory for dessert (you can get your sweet treats delivered to your home!). The town was a welcomed treat after days of hiking in the Cascade Mountains.

If I Could Change One Thing…
I wish the weather was not so hot. It was over 100 degrees the day we were there and it was miserable walking around. I do not love the heat so I wish it had been 20 – 30 degrees cooler. This San Diego girl doesn’t like temperatures over 80 degrees. I thought I was going to melt. But as far as the campground went, it covered all of our camping needs for the night we were there.
