Amenities

Diamond Lake RV Park in Oregon offers a variety of amenities designed to enhance the camping experience. The park provides full hookups for RVs, including water, electricity, and sewer connections, ensuring a comfortable stay for guests. Visitors can enjoy the convenience of modern restrooms, hot showers, and a well-maintained laundry facility. For outdoor enthusiasts, the park offers easy access to fishing, boating, and hiking opportunities around the picturesque Diamond Lake Resort. There are also picnic areas, a playground for children, and a camp store stocked with essentials. Additionally, the park is pet-friendly, allowing guests to bring their furry companions along for the adventure.

Access

Accessing Diamond Lake RV Park is straightforward. The park is located off Highway 138 in southern Oregon, near the town of Chemult. If you’re coming from the north, you can take Highway 97 south to Highway 138 west, following the signs toward Diamond Lake. From the south, take Highway 97 north to Highway 138 west. Once on Highway 138, continue until you reach Diamond Lake Boulevard, which leads directly to the park. The route is well-marked and offers scenic views of the surrounding forests and mountains. Most of the roads are well maintained, however, you may hit a few roads with deep potholes the closer you get to the park.

Atmosphere

At the time of my stay there were not many people in the park. It was July 2024. I am not sure if this is common or if this was due to a forest fire burning near Roseburg caused by a lightning strike. The park was very smokey and the lake was barely visible. Teh state park, which is half a mile down the road, had a mandatory evacuation but this park said they were not evacuating and were not giving refunds.

Because hardly anyone was in the park, it was extremely quiet and eerie. I must say I got no sleep worried the fire would change directions in the night and come back in the direction of the park.

The park does seem to have a lot of rules of what can’t be done which gives a bit of a negative vibe. I feel maybe they can word things in a different way to give it a more positive spin. For example, instead of saying ‘Fish cleaning is not allowed in the park.” Maybe say Fish cleaning can be done at the marina. Since there is a long list of “can’ts” at this park.

Environment

All sites in the park are dirt. The park seemed mostly flat so I do not think leveling would be an issue in any of the sights. The sites did not have any privacy screening and you are open to your neighbor with no trees, shrubs, or fencing. The sites did have space to them so you did not feel crowded from site to site.

Surrounding Area

The campground is located near the Diamond Lake Resort and Marina. Just a short drive up the road you can eat at the restaurant or rent a boat for the day. Across the street is South Shore Pizza. The family can walk over and grab pizza, subs, and ice cream.

Diamond Lake RV Park is just minutes from the north entrance of Crater Lake. It is a beautiful drive around the lake or you can drive half of the lake and head down to the California Redwoods for hiking and river rafting.

The area is famous for its 6 waterfalls in the Umpqua National Forest: Toketee Falls, Whitehorse Falls, Watson Falls, Clearwater Falls, National Creek Falls, and Warm Spring Falls. (and more waterfalls:Umpqua Waterfalls Roseburg)

Sisters, Oregon is about a 2-hour drive north of Diamond Lake RV Park. It is an adorable town that you must visit. It is a charming small town known for its Old West atmosphere and stunning natural beauty. Visitors can explore a variety of activities, from shopping in the town’s unique boutiques and art galleries to enjoying a meal at one of the many local restaurants and cafes. Outdoor enthusiasts can take advantage of the nearby hiking and biking trails, particularly in the Deschutes National Forest, which offers breathtaking views of the Three Sisters mountains. The area is also popular for fishing, camping, and horseback riding. Don’t miss the annual Sisters Rodeo, a beloved local event, or the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show, the world’s largest outdoor quilt show, which draws visitors from around the globe. Check the city’s event calendar for details.

Favorite Things…

My favorite things about this park are its location to Crater Lake and how close it is to Diamond Lake. Anytime I can be in the mountains and close to water is a win.

If I Could Change One Thing…

This park has no Internet. I mean none. There is no Wi-Fi and no cell service. If you need to get work done or if you like to stream or call your loved ones while on the road, you can’t do those things at this park. I couldn’t even use my hotspot to get my route for the next day.
