We traveled here from Florence, Oregon staying at Heceta Beach RV Park.
Atmosphere
This campground is very popular in the summer months. I have not stayed here in the off-season or winter so I do not know if it gets as crowded then. You will need to make reservations in advance to guarantee you a space during summer. There is generally a lot happening so I would not call the campground quiet but for all the people in the park it was not loud. There were lots of trees and the staff was incredibly friendly.
Environment
The sites offer easy access, with paved roads throughout the campground for smooth navigation, but there is no privacy from your neighbors. Sites are open to each other. However, mature trees and landscaped areas add to the serene atmosphere, making it a peaceful retreat. The campground also includes a variety of amenities such as picnic tables and fire rings at each site, allowing guests to enjoy outdoor meals and evening campfires. Additionally, the resort’s proximity to Cannon Beach’s iconic shoreline means you’re just a short walk or drive from breathtaking ocean views, sandy beaches, and the famous Haystack Rock.
The sites are on concrete slabs. It was not difficult to level. The slites were not overly large. You did not get a lot of space. We were in site #73 towards the back of the park. It was a lovely area. And even though we were in the back of the park, we were still able to get Wi-Fi and stream a movie.

Surrounding Area
Cannon Beach RV Resort is ideally located near a variety of attractions and amenities that showcase the natural beauty and charm of the Oregon coast. Just minutes from the resort, you’ll find the iconic Cannon Beach, famous for its expansive sandy shore and the towering Haystack Rock, a must-see landmark that offers opportunities for tide pooling and bird watching. If you are a movie buff you will recognize these rocks from the movie Goonies and the shoreline as the La Push beach in Twilight.
The quaint town of Cannon Beach is nearby, where you can explore boutique shops, art galleries, and a diverse range of restaurants offering local seafood and other culinary delights. For nature enthusiasts, Ecola State Park is a short drive away, providing scenic hiking trails, picnic areas, and breathtaking views of the coastline and offshore rock formations. Ecola State Park has breathtaking views with only a short hike. I highly recommend going. The parking lot is big enough to hold your RV if you do not have a tow vehicle or if you are just driving through and need a side attraction.
Additionally, nearby you can visit the Tillamook Rock Lighthouse, known as “Terrible Tilly,” which is visible from certain vantage points along the coast. The surrounding area also offers opportunities for kayaking, fishing, and whale watching, making it a perfect base for outdoor adventures. Whether you’re interested in exploring the local culture or immersing yourself in the stunning natural environment, Cannon Beach RV Resort’s location offers something for everyone.
Just north of Cannon Beach is the town of Seaside. Seaside, Oregon, is a charming coastal town known for its family-friendly attractions, and one of its most iconic features is the Seaside Carousel. Located in the heart of the town at the Seaside Carousel Mall, this beloved carousel has been a favorite destination for visitors of all ages for decades. The carousel is a beautifully crafted, vintage-style ride, featuring intricately painted horses and other whimsical animals that capture the imagination. The vibrant colors and nostalgic charm of the carousel create a magical experience, reminiscent of a bygone era. The Seaside Carousel is more than just a ride—it’s a symbol of the town’s welcoming and playful spirit. The surrounding Carousel Mall adds to the experience, offering a variety of shops, arcades, and eateries, making it a lively spot to explore before or after your carousel ride.
Favorite Things…
My favorite thing about this RV park was it’s location to everything. It was easy to hop onto Highway 101 or hit the beach. After seeing the Haystack Rocks (or the Goonies Rocks) we were inspired to see more of the Goonies filming locations so we headed north to Astoria to see the Goondocks and more of the movie’s filming locations. It made for some fun childhood memories.
If I Could Change One Thing…
Since we were on a long road trip, we only spent one night here. In the past, I have spent time in the town of Cannon Beach and I always wish I had more time here. It is a great beach town with a lot to offer from shopping to great restaurants. So I wish I could have more time in this RV park and more time to spend in the beach town of Cannon Beach.
