Amenities

From the minute I drove into this park I loved it. Heceta Beach RV Park offers a range of amenities designed to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. The park features full hook-up sites with water, sewer, and electricity, accommodating both large and small RVs. Guests can take advantage of the clean and well-maintained restrooms and showers, as well as a convenient laundry facility. The park also provides free Wi-Fi, allowing you to stay connected during your visit. For those who enjoy outdoor activities, there’s a picnic area with BBQ grills and a horseshoe pit. Additionally, the park’s location is just a short walk from the beautiful Heceta Beach, where you can enjoy the stunning coastal views, beachcombing, and sunsets. Whether you’re looking for a relaxing getaway or an adventure-filled vacation, Heceta Beach RV Park has the amenities to meet your needs.

The park has a small shop with food and gifts from local artists. There is also laundry facilities, a meeting room, and a fitness area. The campground has a few sections for tents, but remember that this is the Oregon coast and it is often very windy here. They do their best to try to protect you from the wind. the tens sites do have some plant barrier around it to help block you from the elements.

Access

The roads are easily accessible and maintained so accessing Hecenta Beach RV is easy. The last road into the park is slightly narrow.

  • From U.S. Highway 101 (Oregon Coast Highway):
    • If you’re coming from the north (e.g., from Newport), head south on U.S. Highway 101.
    • If you’re coming from the south (e.g., from Coos Bay), head north on U.S. Highway 101.
    • Once you’re near Florence, take the exit for Heceta Beach Road. This road is well-marked and easy to find.
  • Follow Heceta Beach Road:
    • After exiting U.S. Highway 101, turn west onto Heceta Beach Road.
    • Continue on Heceta Beach Road for about 1.5 miles.
    • You’ll see signs for Heceta Beach RV Park on your right-hand side.
  • Entering the Park:
    • Turn right into the entrance of Heceta Beach RV Park.
    • Follow the internal roads and signs to your assigned campsite or the main office to check-in.

Atmosphere

The park was very pretty and quiet. There was lots of wind which is typical of the Oregon coast almost any time of the year. Heceta Beach RV Park offers a peaceful and welcoming atmosphere, perfect for those seeking a relaxing coastal retreat. Nestled among tall trees and surrounded by the natural beauty of the Oregon coast, the park exudes a serene and laid-back vibe. The sound of ocean waves can often be heard in the distance, creating a calming backdrop to your stay. The friendly staff and fellow campers contribute to a sense of community, where visitors often share stories around campfires or exchange tips for exploring the area. Whether you’re enjoying a quiet evening under the stars or taking a leisurely stroll to the nearby beach, the atmosphere at Heceta Beach RV Park is one of tranquility and relaxation, making it an ideal spot for unwinding and reconnecting with nature.

Environment

The campsites are on gravel making leveling easy. Each site has greenery on each side. The foliage is sparse so it does not block you from your neighbor. But at least there is something there separating your space from the person next to you.  There are many trees in the park adding to the beauty. The park is 2 blocks from the beach, however, you have to walk on a narrow road with no shoulder to get there. There is not a lot of traffic on the road so it is doable. Just be aware of your surroundings.

Surrounding Area

There is a lot to do in Florence. We only stayed here one night on our way to Cannon Beach. The Heceta Lighthouse, sand dunes, sea lion caves, and fishing are all close by. The lighthouse and the Sea Lion Caves both offer RV parking if you are traveling in your rig and decide to pull over.

Crabbing and fishing are also very popular in the area. There are numerous hiking trails and a fun botanical garden (Darlingtonia) that is full of carnivorous plants just north of town. Darlingtonia is really not a hike. Just a boardwalk that circles the plants. It is easy in and out.

Historic Old Town Florence is a charming and picturesque district that captures the essence of a quaint coastal town with a rich history. Nestled along the Siuslaw River, Old Town is known for its beautifully preserved buildings, many of which date back to the early 1900s, giving the area a nostalgic and timeless feel. The streets are lined with unique shops, art galleries, and boutiques, where visitors can find everything from handcrafted items to local artwork. There are several shops to browse if you are into that.

The waterfront is the heart of Old Town, offering stunning views of the river and the iconic Siuslaw River Bridge, a classic Art Deco-style structure that adds to the town’s historic charm. You’ll find an array of cozy cafes and restaurants, many of which serve fresh seafood caught right off the coast. Outdoor seating areas allow you to enjoy the scenic views while savoring local delicacies.

Favorite Things

My favorite things about this park was it’s proximity to the beach. It is just a short 2-block walk. It made it easy to get there without needing a vehicle or worrying about finding a parking space (parking is very limited). It is also near many attractions. I love visiting the sea lion caves and watching them play in the ocean.

If I could change one thing…

I wish I had more time to stay here and explore. We were on a long trip on our way up to the Cascades National Park and Victoria, Canada. We only had one night here. I wish were had more time to spend in this charming little coastal town.
