Amenities

Camp Richardson in South Lake Tahoe offers a variety of amenities catering to diverse interests and needs, making it a perfect destination for both relaxation and adventure. The resort features a historic hotel, cozy cabins, and a full-service marina with boat rentals, providing guests with comfortable lodging options and easy access to the lake. And of course, the RV park! Visitors can enjoy the pristine sandy beaches, hiking and biking trails, and a range of water activities such as kayaking, paddleboarding, and fishing. The resort also boasts a general store, an ice cream parlor, and several dining options, including the Beacon Bar & Grill, known for its picturesque lake views and live music. In winter, the resort transforms into a snowy retreat with cross-country skiing and snowshoeing trails. With its blend of natural beauty and modern conveniences, Camp Richardson offers a memorable experience for families, couples, and outdoor enthusiasts alike. Our family absolutely loves this destination because of the amenities offered. We don’t have to leave the RV park.

We often travel with family that do not have RVs so Camp Richardson was a great location to stay because it has both cabins and a hotel. I do want to say that the cabins and the hotel are rustic so be advised.

On-site there is a dump station and propane. You can put a tent on your RV site.

Access

Camp Richardson is easy to get into. A paved road leads you into the park. Depending on the direction you come from there is some mountain climbing and some slightly curvy roads. However, we found the drive easy to manage. The RV sites are on dirt and depending on which area of the park you are put in, there may be uneven, sloped sites against the hillsides.

Atmosphere

We stayed at the park in June at the beginning of summer. The park was full but I found it to be enjoyable and not too loud. I was pleasantly surprised at the noise level since there were a lot of families with small children there. We were in the back of the park against the hillside in site #66 so this may have helped us maintain a peaceful environment.

Camp Richardson Resort in South Lake Tahoe functions like a small, self-sufficient community, ensuring that campers have everything they need for an enjoyable stay. The resort offers a wide array of amenities, including bike rentals, which allow visitors to explore the scenic trails that wind through the surrounding forest. The on-site coffee shop is perfect for grabbing a morning espresso or a leisurely afternoon drink, while the charming ice cream parlor serves as a delightful spot for sweet treats. For those eager to hit the water, the full-service marina provides kayak, boat, and jet ski rentals, offering exciting ways to experience the beauty of Lake Tahoe.

Environment

Camp Richardson has lots of Pine trees but they do not block you from your neighbors. There is no green screen blocking your site from the sites next to you. The sites are spread out so it does not feel like you are smashed in on top of other campers. The environment is peaceful and the views are great.

Favorite Things

We loved Camp Richardson because everything you need is there. You don’t need to leave the campground if you don’t want to.

If I could change one thing…

There was so much charm and beauty, there was not much I would change about this park. It was a peaceful stay.
